Six pro kitesurfers – Annabel van Westerop, Pippa van Iersel, Therese Taabbel, Valentin Garat, Jop Heemskerk & Jerome Cloetens – recently went kitesurfing in Greece, where they were greeted with strong winds.
Spanish kitesurfer Jerome Cloetens has filmed and edited this video of his a week in Greece training.
“Normally in the middle of July, we have tons of events, demos and shoots but because of the virus like most people all our plans got canceled! So I decided to call some friends and we decided to organize an intense week of training without any reason just to have fun with each other since there won't be any competition any time soon. I did not plan to film a professional video, I just wanted to kite and train. But I ended up taking my phone out of my pocket when something made me laugh or was just fun to watch, I did the same thing with the Gopro but in the water. This is how this video was made: with iPhone and Gopro effortlessly and that's why I like it so much, this way you can really see the perspective of a pro kiter and what it is like to train and have fun with friends.
In terms of covid, the kitespot is in a region far from usual tourists, there were barely no cases so there was no obligation to wear a mask except in supermarkets and other businesses. However, all of us had to do the test before entering Greece or on arrival. Luckily we all tested negative and were able to focus on training and enjoying the best wind of the world, the thermals in Greece are incomparable with any other place. I personally had a blast! Hope you can feel that energy and see how fun kiteboarding is!”
