Well known and respected surfer & shaper Ian Armstrong about building the new RRD surf board line: “Surfing is life -the rest is details. If this is true then the details are in the equipment! Wave riding equipment has been my obsession since the beginning. Teaming up with RRD I have created my dream quiver. Shapes that have come from years of riding all the different waves of Cape Town. Sometimes alone and sometimes with family and friends. Having fun and trying new shapes, trading insights on performance. When Roberto asked me to put this line together it didn’t take long to decide which shapes to use. It’s just hard to decide which one is my favourite. My boards are a canvas for my art, painting is all about colour, shapes and proportion. It’s been so much fun having the freedom to create with RRD. All the shapes in the line have been tested and retested for years and there have been incredible moments. Airs, barrels and carves are all etched in my mind when I think of these shapes.
