The World Kiteboarding League ran for the first time this year (2016) organized by Kiteboarding Riders United. The board members of the KRU are Youri Zoon, Alex Pastor, Annelous Lammerts and Liam Whaley, who came together after the 2015 season with the aim of securing the future of professional kiteboarding.
The 2016 WKL season is now over, and winners have been crowned! As a testament to the good work put in this year, the final saw some truly world class riding, and truly deserving winners. In 2017, the WKL will continue its good work as the official tour sanctioned by World Sailing for freestyle and big air.
