THE LOWDOWN
We traveled the globe for kiting for seven years and Corpus Christi, Texas is one of the most consistently windy places we’ve ever been. We opened our location here for this very reason. We’ve taken all of our traveling experience and aim to provide a safe, fun and adventurous kiting destination. The Kite Academy offers a variety of kiting locations for both beginner and advanced riders. We have shallow water bays that are great for learning, deep water spots for kite foiling and wingfoiling, as well as Gulf Coastkite spots for wave action. Our consistent winds during the high season will almost guarantee you time on the water from sunrise to sunset.
KITING SET UP
The Corpus Christi wind machine is in full effect during the summer with the majority of our wind direction coming from the south. This direction opens up a lot of kiteable areas with either onshore or side onshore wind directions. Some of our launch areas are sugar sand beaches while others have grassy entrances and exits. There is plenty of kiteable area in each bay to keep traffic on the water to a minimum.
WHEN IS BEST TO GO?
The Kite Academy is open March to July each year. Our best consistent wind is typically mid-April to the end of July.
NO WIND?
On the rare occasion there is a no wind day in Corpus, guests can wander downtown for ample restaurants and entertainment venues. If the beach vibe is what you’re after, take a short drive over to the national seashore and visit the serene Mustang Island state park. These days also provide other avenues for getting on the water such as surfing, SUP, boat charters and more.
