Almost everyone knows this scenario: The wind is blowing, but you are stuck in the office, have to study, or need to do some other “important” stuff.
The phrase “I don’t have time for a session” is deeply grounded in our vocabulary.
But what if this phrase isn’t true?
Just listen to it: “I DON’T HAVE TIME”.
You are your own time manager and if you don’t have it, where is it then?
You have the time, you just need to take it! I recently did exactly this…
It’s exams time for my friends and I at the moment and we are up to our necks in work. I woke up on a Wednesday morning and knew this was going to be a tiring and long day full of studying, lectures and work.
As a part of my daily routine I was checking the wind forecast while eating my breakfast and sadly noticed that it would be perfect for this one amazing spot in Denmark. Frustrated I started working when my phone rang. It was my friend Steffen, asking me if I wanted to go for a session today.
I told him that I didn’t have the time to go for a session, because I had to study so much. He told me that he was in the same dilemma, but just wanted to let off some steam.
15 Minutes after I hung up the phone I was still reading the first line of my book, because I couldn’t concentrate. I just couldn’t stop thinking of the missed opportunity.
I called Steffen back and said “Fuck, let’s do it!”. 30 minutes later we were driving up the highway heading to the Danish island of Fyn. We ended up having an amazing session in perfect conditions and drove home with the setting sun, tired and happy.
Of course you can’t always do that, but I think every once in a while you should just leave everything behind for a day and just do what you want and not what you have to. This helps you to clear your mind and keep focused during the working hours.
After this day I was able to study way better for the rest of the time. So listen to your inner voice and think twice before you say “I dont’t have time”.
