It kind of seems like we just woke up one day and it was summer. We missed spring, we missed the flowers blooming. Not even two weeks ago Cape Town was getting battered by massive fronts, hail storms and snow warnings, and a few days later it was 30'C and the howling Cape Doctor has been blowing relentlessly almost 15 out of the past 18 days. It's nothing to complain about but usually we get 1 or 2 bone chilling south-east days in between cold fronts, which reminds us summer is coming. Now, from going from zero to hero, I’m sitting on the couch, my body is broken, knees are buggered and I am two weeks behind on projects…
Cape Town is hard to find a good balance, it's seems like when the wind blows it's just balls to the wall, filming, photo-shoots, downwinders, searching for new spots, five hours of kiting per day. Yes, I know that happens all over the world, but Cape Town can get you in that groove for a 10 consecutive day stretch, one year we had 104 days of howling South Easters days back-to-back. Now that can (almost) make you wish you had a boss.
But enough complaining, last night we kited into the darkness at kitebeach with only 3 of us out jumping over each other. And if you have been to Blouberg, you'll know if the wind is blowing, there will usually be over 100 kiters out.
So I'm just going to add that to my list of excused why I’m out kiting again today…
